Those damned billboards
I'm glad I'm not the only person irritated by those David Suzuki billboards:
Don't worry, ad agencies, there's Green for you in this fake-ass crisis too!
Maybe David Suzuki can illuminate and levitate light bulbs through sheer awareness-power, but I am fallen, a denier, no less, and I have to rely on the old fashioned environmentally unfriendly methods. I would just end up dropping the bulb on my floor, and having to vacuum up all that mercury and dump it in my compost heap. What a hassle!
Even if the mini fluorescent bulbs really are the right solution, the ad itself is 3/4 of the way to being a self-parody.

I give the CFL bulbs high marks just for reduced heat signature. The home office used to overheat a little due to the 5 PCs + halogen-powered lighting systems. I replaced the halogen lamps with ordinary tungsten/CFL-capable lights. Now the PCs + lamps can no longer overpower the central air and turn the office into a sauna.
Could kind of care less about the energy-saving properties, but the reduction in heat signature is extremely welcome.
I heard an ad yesterday that said that Yordale shopping center was helping everyone by taking themselves off of the grid when there was more power being used than was available in the province. They would switch to there own backup power. I was fine with that statement but then they added and that helped the environment by reducing green house gases. What!?!?!
How can their diesel generators possibly create less green house gases, than nuclear or hydro generator.
Yes it does help reduce the stress on the system but how stupid do they think we are.
...
Don't try and answer that, most people will believe it.
