"Economical" Cars

Dennis gives some real economic analysis on Natural Resources Canada's list of fuel-efficient vehicles:

It seems to me that except for the Toyota Echo and Matrix high efficiency cars are not for the cheap economically challenged. You could buy a Pontiac Sunfire for $16,230 and use that $14,000 savings versus a Toyota Prius to pay for fourteen years worth of gasoline. Something to think about when balancing fuel efficiency versus the purchase price.
